WHY JCA organize a such large charity event and charity performance for China earthquake relief on 6/15?
In a video production to commemorate its 10-year anniversary of founding, JCA (Jacksonville Chinese Association) proudly declared the following:
“It is all about people. Like the bridges over the St Johns River, we strive to connect the cultures and peoples of China and America; it is all about progress, like the water in the St Johns River, together, we press forward toward the ocean, toward a brilliant goal.”
At no other time have these words become more pertinent than the present moment as the catastrophic earthquake struck Wenchuan City in Sichuan Province, China on 5-12-2008, claiming more than 50,000 lives and injuring tens of thousands more. Currently, as thousands of aftershocks continue to hit the already-devastated areas, the survivors of the deadly earthquake are facing urgent needs for shelters, food, water and medical care. From a long-term perspective, love and support are needed to heal the earthquake survivors’ psychological trauma, to help them rebuild their livelihood.
It is in response to these substantial needs, short-term or long-term, that JCA is presenting “Filling the World with Love”, a performance/auction fundraiser in cooperation with UNF and ChinaElite Group in Orlando. The event will be held in Lazzara Performance Hall on UNF campus on June 15, 2008. It is a charity event including a poster/video show, a silent auction and a professional performing arts show designed to benefit the China earthquake victims. All proceeds from this event will go to China’s earthquake relief work. Your participation and generous financial support are greatly encouraged.
With love and care from all of us, from friends all over China and across the world, the sky will be bluer and the sun will shine brighter, the earthquake victims will get out of the shadows of the devastating tragedy faster. Together, we will make a difference.
Please help us rebuild communities and lives in the disaster-stricken areas of China.
Please join us to “Fill the World with Love”.
Thanks!
